From small to large

There are several reasons that make this elevator in an office building in the middle of Hamburg’s city centre a special project. Decades ago a paternoster elevator operated in the elevator shaft. As the two small elevators installed in the meantime were to become one large one, a wide-body cage elevator was the only possible solution. These elevators are wider than they are deep.

In this case, the elevator was equipped with a four-panel, centrally opening door with a width of 1,600 millimetres. A mobile crane was used for the installation: due to the very narrow access to the engine room, the drive was lowered into place through the specially opened roof.

The interior is also anything but ordinary. The cabin impresses with glass panels featuring elaborate shadow gaps and a natural stone floor.

A digital picture frame is also installed in the cabin.

The high-quality visual appearance is crowned by bevelled wall casings.
